STRAND PROFESSIONALS and LLC MANAGERS (DIRECTORS)

H. Kent Brock - LLC Manager and President

Kent Brock received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980. He has 34 years of diversified experience in most of the major producing areas of the United States as well as several international areas. Mr. Brock started his career with Mesa Petroleum Company where he gained experience in operations, reservoir engineering, and development geology in the Rocky Mountains, mid-continent and offshore Gulf of Mexico. In 1983, Mr. Brock left Mesa for a position with Harvard Petroleum Company in Roswell, New Mexico. While at Harvard, he handled operations, reservoir engineering, and project evaluations with a focus on the Permian Basin. In May 1986, Mr. Brock joined IP Petroleum Company in Houston as Senior Petroleum Engineer. His primary responsibility was the evaluation of drilling prospects and acquisition opportunities for the company. Mr. Brock was named Exploration Manager in 1987 after developing the geological concept that led to a significant discovery in West Texas. In 1988, Mr. Brock formed and became president of Strand Energy, Inc. Since this time, he has been active in prospect generation, operations and evaluation of acquisition opportunities for Strand as well as other industry companies. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas; and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Houston Geological Society, SIPES and IPAA.

Scott M. Airey – Vice President-Land

Scott Airey received a B.S. in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Houston in 1982. He has 32 years of professional experience in the Gulf Coast, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Michigan. Scott began his career with Dernick Resources, Inc. where he gained experience in property acquisition. From Dernick, Scott joined Mark Producing, Inc. where he assisted in the acquisition of more than 100,000 acres on trend plays. In 1985, Scott accepted a position as Land Manager with Preston Oil Company in The Woodlands, Texas. While at Preston, he assembled and maintained in excess of 250,000 acres of leasehold and company owned minerals located primarily in Texas, Louisiana, and Michigan. In 1992, Scott joined Pecos Petroleum Company, a prospect generation shop that assembled and drilled numerous prospects in Texas and Louisiana. Strand hired Scott in mid 1996 to head up its land department. Scott is a Certified Professional Landman, a member of the Houston Association of Petroleum Landmen, and a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen.

Christopher E. Betz – Exploration Manager

Christopher “Chip” Betz received a B.S. in Geology in 1980 and a M.S. in Geology in 1983 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He has over 31 years of exploration experience in the Gulf of Mexico Basin. Mr. Betz began his career in 1982 with Tenneco as an exploration geologist in the Gulf Coast Division. At Tenneco he was responsible for developing exploration plays in the Hackberry and Miocene trends of South Louisiana, as well as the Wilcox, Yegua and Cretaceous trends of south Texas. Following the purchase of Tenneco’s Gulf Coast Division by Fina Oil and Chemical, Mr. Betz continued his employment with Fina as a senior staff geologist concentrating on the Wilcox and Yegua trends in Texas. In 1992 Mr. Betz left Fina to join Westhall Associates Inc. as Exploration Manager and later became Vice President when Westhall was rolled into Seisgen Exploration Inc. At Westhall and Seisgen he generated exploration projects that have resulted in gross reserve additions in excess of 200 BCF with a drilling success rate of over 75% utilizing 3-D seismic technology. Mr. Betz is an AAPG Certified Petroleum Geologist as well as a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists and the Houston Geological Society.

Todd A. Messer - CFO

Todd Messer received his B.B.A. in Finance in 1992 and his M.B.A. in 1996 from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He has 18 years of experience in the commercial oil and gas industry and finance sectors. Mr. Messer began his career in 1994 with First American Bank in the credit department. After receiving his MBA from Texas A&M in 1996, he left the bank to become a Business Analyst Associate for Koch Exploration for 8 years with primary responsibilities for economic modeling oil/gas property transactions, price risk management and review of oil and gas contracts. During his tenure at Koch, he also was engaged in mezzanine financing investments and the sale/workout of the debt portfolio amassed by Koch Producer Services. Mr. Messer left Koch to join the upstart Ventum Energy, where he assumed the management of the accounting and finance functions for the company and its wholly owned affiliates/subsidiaries. At the end of 2009, Mr. Messer left Ventum to become the Manager of Finance at Strand Energy, L.C.  Mr. Messer was promoted to the position of Chief Financial Officer in January 2013.

Rick Hemmen – Operations Manager

Rick Hemmen received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1984. He has 30 years of field operations and engineering experience in several Texas basins and Oklahoma. Rick began his career with Cross Operating Company in 1984 as a petroleum engineer where he planned and supervised drilling and completion operations in Oklahoma. In 1985 Rick joined Conoco, Inc. where he operated and maintained wells and field equipment in the Rincon Field in South Texas. Rick joined Vernon E. Faulconer, Inc. in 1989, as Assistant Manager of Operations for East Texas and North Louisiana and within one year became District Manager. His responsibilities included supervising 6 employees and overseeing all field operations. From 1992 to 1998, Rick managed all field operations for an East Texas operator, R. Byron Roach, Trustee. This included the drilling and completion of over 50 Cotton Valley sand wells. Rick joined Strand Energy, L.C. in July 1998. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Greg Doll – Geologist

Greg earned a B.S. in Geology with a Minor in Geophysics from the Univeristy of Houston in 1996. He has 19 years of exploration and development experience in most Texas basins as well as many of the other major US basins. Greg started his career with Strand in 1996 as a Associate Geologist where he was responsible for map production and analysis utilizing geographical information systems including Atlas and ArcView. Gaining experience with his time at Strand, Greg has moved into more responsiblity including supervision of the geo-techincal support staff. He is also experienced in well-site logging, testing, and coring as well as geo-steering of Strand's horizontally drilled wells both on-site and remotely. Greg also maintains the IT responsibilites at Strand. Greg is a Texas Licensed Professional Geologist, License #3858 and a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the Houston Geological Society, and the Geophysical Society of Houston.

Tim Brendle - Geologist

Mr. Brendle earned his B.S. in Geology from Texas A&M University in 20120 and his M.S. degree in Petroleum Geology from the University of Houston in 2012. Tim has been with Strand since 2011, he is a member of Houston Geological Society, American Association of Petroleum Geologist, and the West Texas Geological Society. ------------------------------------------

Howard W. Kiatta - LLC Manager

Howard Kiatta received a B.S. in Geology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1958 and his M.S. in Geology in 1960 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Mr. Kiatta began his career at Texaco, Inc. as a Geologist, from 1960 through 1967 in exploration and development throughout southern Louisiana. He joined Mitchell Energy Corporation in 1967 where he became the Vice President and Exploration Manager for the Southern Division, which included the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast, Gulf of Mexico and west Texas. In 1977, Mr. Kiatta became an Independent Petroleum Geologist, originating, leasing and selling oil and gas prospects in the Texas Gulf Coast Area, and managing joint exploration ventures with industry partners and investors. Mr. Kiatta is an AAPG Certified Petroleum Geologist and an Honorary Life Member of the Houston Geological Society. He is also the former Director and Officer of the Petroleum Club of Houston, along with numerous other associations.

Stuart W. Stedman - LLC Manager

Stuart Stedman attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received a B.A. in 1979. He also did his graduate work at the University of Texas where he received M.B.A. and J.D. degrees in 1985. He was licensed to practice law in the state of Texas in November, 1985. Mr. Stedman is the president of Stedman West Interests, Inc., a family investment office in Houston responsible for various Stedman West family holdings. These assets include marketable securities, oil & gas properties, coal properties, ranch lands, and urban real estate. Mr. Stedman is a trustee of the Stedman West Foundation, an Advisory Director of the Ceasar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, a former director of the Texas Wildlife Association, a former trustee of the Museum of Fine Arts and a former trustee of Texas Children’s Hospital.

Thomas S. Glanville - LLC Manager

Tom Glanville graduated from the University of Virginia in 1980 with a B.A. in Economics. He did his graduate work at the Colorado School of Mines where he received an M.S. in Economics in 1986. Mr. Glanville has 28 years of experience in the energy and energy finance sectors including officer positions at Reliant Energy, Inc., Enron Corp., and Bankers Trust Company. He started in the energy business in 1980 at Mesa Petroleum Co. Currently Mr. Glanville is the Managing Partner of Eschelon Partners, a Houston based small capitalization private equity firm focusing on the energy sector in North America. He also serves on the board of Chroma Exploration and Production, Inc. and Itron, Inc.
